Qualified skilled staff are more likely to gain employment, and this qualification represents an introduction to the industry. It is a busy and practical course with real working experience in our restaurant and kitchens. The course is designed to support progression to further learning and work in hospitality and catering or other related sectors.

  • What you will study

    Split into bitesized units you will complete 3 mandatory:

    • Customer service in the Hospitality Industry
    • Introduction to the Hospitality Industry
    • Health and Safety and Food safety Awareness in catering

    In addition, you will also complete the following units:

    • Basic food preparation and cooking
    • Food allergies and intolerance
    • Using kitchen equipment
    • Digital skills for work
    • Money, time and temperature
    • Working in a team
    • Speak to communicate
  • Entry Requirements

    There are no entry requirements but if you don’t have any qualifications you will be asked to take an English and maths test.

  • Assessment

    Assessment is by course work and assignments, which are both internally and externally assessed

  • Moving Forward

    You can move on to a level 2 Professional Cookery course
