Powered by some of the top names in the digital gaming industry, the Digital Schoolhouse uses play-based learning to engage the next generation of school and college students and teachers with a dynamic computing curriculum in classrooms across the UK. It’s aim and vision is to bridge the gap between industry and education and prepare the next generation for the ‘digital age’ ahead.

Digital Schoolhouse Leader, Billy Smith has been instrumental in bringing the initiative to the College - he said: “The programme will future-proof and equip our students with fundamental skills needed to drive the ever-developing creative and digital economy. Digital Schoolhouses are connected to the games, creative, and technology industries and PlayStation is the lead partner for the programme.

“We are thrilled to have been selected as a Digital Schoolhouse and can’t wait to work directly with the industry professionals that include creatives, coders and gamers from some of the most recognised studios such as Framestore, Moving Picture Company (MPC), Cinesite, DNEG, Dreamworks and Sony Computer Entertainment. This partnership will enable us to push the boundaries and to inspire the next generation of students to confidently consider careers in the digital and creative sector.”

Shahneila Saeed, Director of Digital Schoolhouse and Head of Education at Ukie commented: “This immersive experience delivers computing and careers education with a difference. With widespread impact on student’s academic achievement, diversity, teaching and learning as well as whole school communities; the programme is a win-win for everyone involved. Our new partners bring with them new possibilities, and we are incredibly excited about the adventures that lie ahead.”

Digital Schoolhouse workshops are led and taught by Digital Schoolhouse Lead Teachers and industry specialists to visit primary and secondary schools as well as colleges. They aim to ensure teaching staff are ever-empowered, confident and inspired to deliver computing across the UK.
