If you want to study at university but left school without the qualifications you need, then this Access to HE course could be for you. Over 20,000 Access to HE students apply for a degree course at a UK university each year and gain degrees.

This course will help you get the qualifications you need to study Psychology, or a related course, at university. The qualification will provide a broad understanding of Psychology, childhood attachment theory, various applicable therapies, stress-related illnesses, and mental health while covering topics such as psychological perspectives and learning theories.

  • What you will study

    The course is broken down into manageable units focusing on giving you the study skills and knowledge required for university, perfect for those who have been out of education for some time.

    Units include:

    • Psychology of crime, social psychology
    • Psychology of Mental Health
    • Neuro Psychology
    • Psychology and Therapy
    • Child Development
    • Effects of Stress

    You will also study some Sociology units and study skills units.

  • Entry Requirements
    • You must be aged 19 plus
    • Proficiency in written and spoken English
    • GCSEs - grades A* - C / 9-4 or Functional Skills Level 2 or recognised non-UK GCSE equivalencies in English and maths preferred; however, each applicant will be considered on an individual basis
    • Selection by interview, initial screening, literacy and numeracy tests
  • Assessment

    Assessment is ongoing and developed through a portfolio of coursework A large proportion of your work will be essay or assignment but you can also expect exams, presentations and project work

  • Moving Forward

    The progression routes from this Diploma could include but are not limited to, degrees in psychology, criminology, disability studies, child and family studies, health and social care, sociology, criminal justice, social work, anthropology, and child and youth studies.
